THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOWBanks In Nadi, one may transact at many small banks, although three major banks - ANZ, Colonial National Bank, and Westpac – are the most reliable in the city.
Credit Cards Major credit card companies, including American Express, Diners Club, Visa, JCB International and Mastercard, are accepted in Fiji, with some of Nadi's hotels and restaurants, boutiques, rental car agencies, and travel agents readily able to process credit card transactions. Travelers who lose their credit cards and travellers cheques can expect good service from Fiji's American Express and VISA representatives. Currency Fiji's main currency is the Fijian dollar, which is available in denominations of $2, $5, $10, $20, $50 (paper) and 1c, 2c, 5c, 10c, 20c, 50c and $1 (coin). Visitors to the islands may bring in as much money as they would like, but they are only allowed by the Fijian government to take out only as much currency as the amount they declared upon entry. Faiths The majority of people on Fiji are either Hindu and Islamic, primarily due to its significant Indo-Fijian population. The Hindis worship at the majestic Sri Siva Subramaniya temple on Nadi's eastern side; meanwhile, Muslims can choose to worship at either Nadi and Ahmadiya mosques in Nadi. Visitors are more than welcome but must abide by the policies, which include bare feet upon entry and no photograph-taking. Foreign Exchange All Fijian banks and most hotels are open to exchanging tourists' foreign currencies and travellers' cheques, based on the foreign exchange rates published daily in the Fijian newspapers.
